Lean back, shut your eyes and exhale because Rӧyksopp has finally ended the months-long dicktease and had their third album Junior leak. It started off months ago when they released "Happy Birthday," a track that was greeted skeptically due to the vocals sounding like one of those green tube toys that made a weird sound when you turned it upside down. This was quickly followed up with a one minute clip of the next song, "Happy Up Here," which starts with Rӧyksopp laughing at you like "dudes, don't even worry, Happy Birthday isn't even going to be on the album." A couple weeks later, we got the full "Happy Up Here" given to us and I, for one, wasn't disappointed in the least.
The album itself is fantastic. Fellow Scandinavian musician and previous collaborator Karen Dreijer Andersson of The Knife and Fever Ray features on two of the tracks, "This Must Be It" and "Tricky Tricky," the latter being my favorite after the initial play of Junior. They also have Lykke Li's sweet voice cooing on "Miss It So Much" and on the next single, "The Girl and The Robot," another Scandinavian singer named Robyn narrates her sorrow (i suppose its about how an electric heart cannot love) over a violin-fuelled club bangr beat.
My favorite tracks are Tricky Tricky, Miss It So Much, Rӧyksopp Forever and Happy Up Here. I predict some great remixes for Tricky Tricky, and we'll be sure to post any outstanding ones we come across. The entire album has this great, upbeat, airy, orchestral feel to it and is best listened from a gigantic bed held aloft by hot air balloons. Check out the official music video for Happy Up Here, featuring the bad guys from Space Invaders and a lot of flashin' lites. You can try out Junior for yourself up at the title.
Rӧyksopp Forever.
By the way...firsties. Much more of FVTVR3S 2 cum.
